dear mustaches: you have taken over the world of yipsters (which unfortunately, living in sf, i am surrounded by.) oh, you are so ironic and throwback, you adorn tote bags, pencils and walls. you are revered at post-post-mod theme parties. i myself, have attended two (albeit years ago, before you were so on trend.) but this is a fire hazard, and you have spread too far.

01.28.10

dear art students: gone, but not missed, are the days where i, too had to carry a gigantic portfolio (bigger than yours) around. it used to act as a sail when the syracuse winds picked up, hurtling me across the icy quad. hang in there, at least we don’t have blizzards here.

dear stuff: six years and a few months ago, i moved to san francisco from the east coast with one suitcase. one bag filled with all my necessary possessions. how has that expanded this much?!

Thursday

dear children’s imaginations: sometimes i go into toy stores just to make sure i haven’t totally forgotten how to think about things that are outta this world.

Tuesday

07.07.09

dear swings atop the hill: some nights on the way home from work, i swing in you. despite the inevitable sand in shoes.

Friday

07.03.09

dear hybrid rental car: you were so disarmingly quiet, we did not know if you were on or off when we went into the store. eventually we assumed off. but your lights were still on when we came out 40 minutes later…
